Praise the Lord! Jason Michael came home this evening around 6 p.m....
The did a cath and took a good look at his heart. The new valve and stem are working wonderfully and there were no clots. So they went ahead and shocked his heart and it is back in rhythm. He came home with more meds this time. He is so much better but he could still use prayers. Thank you everyone. I pray that you have a wonderful Thanksgiving and are spending it with those you love.
Happy Thanksgiving,
Love, Charlie & Barbee

Jason Update
Jason is scheduled for a heart cath at 8:30 a.m. tomorrow (Wednesday). If there are no clots of any kind, they plan to shock him then. One medication they tried on him today worked for a little while, then they heart beats went out of control again. They needed to make sure there were not clots before they do the shock. Plus, they want to take a good look around. I feel better knowing that. Will update more tomorrow after the heart cath.
Jason Update
I just got off the phone with an update on Jason Michael. His heart is not responding to any of the medications. So some time today they are going to have to shock his heart to try and get it to calm down to a normal rhythm.
He is frightened to death, of the unknown. He is afraid to sleep. They did give him something to help him to sleep last night. They can not do much in that sense because his Blood Pressure is so low. His dad and sister are on their way to the hospital, so they will be there when they shock his heart. The whole family is in a panic. Jason's mom Doreen, is in such a state of fear. Please pray for her too.
I will update later today, when I get news of how the shock of his heart goes.

Jason Michael Update
Hi Everyone,
I wanted to give you and update on Jason Michael. He is home and doing well. Praise the Lord! The home nurse came by the house yesterday and said his incision is looking really good and he seems to be right on track. They will be back next week to remove the stitches from where the tubes were. He is still to take it very easy for the next two weeks. He is still very sore and is complaining about his back a lot. The doctors told Jeff and Doreen that he is very lucky to be alive. There was more damage than thought. In order to get to all that needed to be repaired, his heart was nearly cut in half. The panic attacks have stopped. They were very bad. Was causing him problems enough that they had to give him medication to calm him down. When he would wake from sleeping he went into a very bad panic and was moving around too much.
Jason is no longer a greenish gray color either, his normal coloring is back.
Well, our family sure has a lot to be thankful for this Thanksgiving. We count our blessing daily and hope you do too.
We are having some beautiful weather here. Temps in the lower 70's. Fabulous for taking a drive. Charlie and I plan to take another one tomorrow, with the top open and our hair blowing in the wind............
Love ya, Barbee

Jason's Surgery
Jason Michaels surgery went really well. There were more problems than anticipated but the surgeon was able to repair them all. They took the tubes out of him around 6 p.m. and he was doing his best to talk, when spoken to. Of course some of us could not sleep last night, including Jason. We all know that he was able to catch up on his sleep today. lol
At this time we do not know how long he will be hospitalized.
It is just a relief knowing he is on the road to being well again. We thank all of you from the bottom of our hearts for your prayers, love and support. THANK YOU!

Beautiful Fall Photos Near Our Home 2009
Charlie and I took a long drive over the weekend. Just drove through some back country roads between here and Hannibal MO. This is a few of the photos we took. Most of the beauty was gone from all the rain we have had. I hope you enjoy the color of the trees.
Well the BIG day is nearing, on Thursday Oct 29th, Jason Michael will have his Aortic Valve Replacement surgery. We are all very thankful that the hospital is going ahead with the surgery before all the financing is in place.
His Uncle Charlie and I are both very anxious for Jason. We know what he is about to go through and how hard this will be for him. Plus how hard it will be on his parents and sister, to see him go through this. However, He is perfectly healthy other than this problem, so he has a fantastic advantage.
I plan to go to the hospital to wait with them and my sister Sue, (his grandmother) during the surgery. Since there is such an outbreak of the H1N1, I do not plan to go in and see Jason. I feel only his immediate family should be allowed in the Cardiac ICU, when he goes there. I know a lot of hospitals have major restrictions right now, on who can come in and who can not. Since Charlie and I know first hand all the fears and importance of keeping germs down, I hope they have really tough restrictions on who can visit and who can not.
So please everyone, continue to keep Jason in your prayers the next few days. I will post as soon as, I return from the hospital, with an update on Thursday.
Let's all give praise that this is finally going to happen.

Hi Everyone, Yes I know it has been a long time since I posted to the blog. Things have been real crazy around here. Hard to believe that right?
Our latest bit of news it that our 22 year old nephew Jason Michael, is in need of heart surgery. He has to have his Aortic Valve replaced. His surgery was scheduled to take place today but they called Friday and said it was cancelled. His insurance is refusing to pay, because he has not met his initial waiting period. He had not been with the company he works for long enough.
Because this is such a serious need, the surgeon has offered to waive his fee for the operation. YES, that is true. He said without this Jason will die and he can not let that happen. So the hospital is trying to convince the insurance company to pay something. Then the financial department will present this to the hospital board for financing. They could have to come up with, as much as, 40% up front before they can schedule surgery. Even after the surgeon waives his fees, they are looking at $60-75,000.00. They will know Tuesday or Wednesday how much money they will need to get the surgery scheduled.
So I am in the planning stage of having an Auction/Dinner/Dance Fundraiser. Hopefully we will raise enough money for the up
front money needed.
The hospital financial department seems sure they will be approved for this. I want to be ready to start the fundraiser, as soon as, I get a figure.
Lets see what else...Well everything else is trivial compared to this. So I will end this.
Please keep Jason Michael in your prayers.

Short Trip
On July 17, Charlie and I took a short trip to visit his family in New Madrid. We were able to visit his father and step mother, his sister Karen, Uncle Birl, Aunt Nellie. We tried to get together with his brother Frank but each time Charlie called, he was resting from having his grandchildren. Boyd and Louise took us to dinner at the Eagles. Charlie called and invited Frank and Thelma but they did not join us. Charlie's Aunt Fay joined us for dinner and we had not seen her in years.
Charlie sure enjoyed the trip. He did really well because we took our time. We went the night before and he rested at the hotel. The next morning we went to visit the family. Then we stayed again that night again at the hotel. When we did make it home he was pretty tired but I could tell it was a good kind of tired.
Charlie and I used to take a lot of road trips. Have not done that in years. So on the way home we took a long road trip and he wanted to drive. He said it may be the last time he gets to drive on a road trip, so we just drove and enjoyed the view.
He came down with another sore in his nose that led to aother staph infection. We still had some of the medication from the last time. Thank goodness we had some, as that stuff cost $450. He is using it and it is slowing working. However, it has led to an ear ache and head aches. He also cut his toe, I guess while trimming his nails and it too is infected. Poor baby, he is putting meds in his nose, drops in his ear and antibiotic cream on his toe. Hopefully he will feel better soon.
The girls went to see the Jonas Brothers in concert Tuesday night. OH MY GOSH, did they have a great time. They spent three days making posters. After the concert Cheyenne called and told me Joe Jonas read her post out loud at the concert. She had written in Gold Glitter, I LOVE JOE JONAS. It made her so happy that he read it, she got so emotional she cried.
Well that is it from out little corner of the world.

Thursday
Charlie had his second Rehab Orientation today and also started rehab afterwards. It made him really tired. Any of you who know Charlie know, he will not admit when he is getting tired. So he pushed himself WAY to hard. He was exhausted and came straight home and took a good long nap. He goes back on Tuesday and will continue twice a week for 13 weeks. They keep him on a heart monitor the entire time is his working out. They check his breathing, BP and oxygen intake during the process too. They said he did great today.

Wednesday
Charlie went Tuesday for his Cardiac/Pulmonary Rehab Orientation. He was there almost two hours and did not get the orientation completed. So he goes back tomorrow.
Today, he went for the CAT Scan of his head. All was clear. He said his throat is starting to feel better, so finally the antibiotics are working. He took the last pill yesterday. So if the throat starts to get bad again, he is to call the ENT. I can not tell you, how relieved we both were, that there was nothing showing up on his CAT Scan. Finally he got a break. Praise the Lord!
Not sure when the rehab will start. We may find that out tomorrow, if he is able to complete the orientation.
I will keep you posted.

Charlie Update
Charlie went for an PFT, Pulmonary Function Test. He failed it and nearly passed out from it. It took a little over an hour, to complete the test. His lungs hurt pretty bad afterwards, and still hurt a little today. Starting next week Tuesday 16th, he will go in for his orientation for Cardio/Pulmonary Rehab. They are hoping to build some strength in his lungs, to help fight off all the re-occuring episodes of CHF and Bronchitis. We are happy he is going to start this rehab.
Then the following day, he goes for his CAT Scan of his head. The antibiotics have not stopped the sore throat. So we will see what the CAT Scan says.
That is it for here. Hope all of you are doing well.
Love Charlie & Barbee

No surgery for me at this time.
Well I am happy to say, no surgery on my shoulder or hip at this time. My arthritis has progressed from mild to moderate in the past three years. I received a shot in the shoulder for pain and some fluid from the joint was taken for evaluation. I will now be taking some arthritis medication and hopefully it will start to work soon. May take up to two weeks before I notice a change. So I am hoping that with the shot and first round of med's, perhaps I will be able to get some good sleep tonight. I am also going to have a nerve damage test on Tuesday for my shoulder/arm.
So I am happy that I do not need surgery at this time. WooHoo !

Sunday
Well Charlie is still is suffering with his throat. Yesterday, he told me he thought we should cancel the 4Th of July BBQ. He said since he was not feeling any better, he was afraid he would feel too bad to be sociable. Then today he said, " Let's not cancel, surely I will feel better by then". So right now it is on. When he sees the doctor on the 17Th, it may be a different story. Again, I am leaving this up to him. Only he knows how he truly feels. I do not want him to stress over it. I want him to enjoy it IF we go through with it. I know he wants to have everyone here, since he can not travel to visit everyone. So IF we cancel I will return every one's money. If not, then we will see you on the 4Th!

Thursday Update
Well everyone, You are not going to believe this... With the high doses of antibiotics that Charlie is on he has a throat so sore, he can hardly talk. Not sure which one of us is upset the most. We both just shake our heads and can not believe that he can be getting so sick with the antibiotics he is on. He feels so bad today, he can barely swallow, he looks terrible, and...
How can he be getting so sick with his throat; when he is taking such a strong antibiotic???? HOW IS THIS POSSIBLE?

Friday
We have great news today.Charlie's lungs were clear!!! Praise the Lord! Last time we heard those words were before September. So if we can keep him well, he does not have to see the pulmonologist again for four months. We are so happy and Charlie was so relieved. His doctor is leaving and moving to Colorado. This was the last time we will see him. However, we do like his partner that will be taking over Charlie's care.
So thank you, thank you everyone, for your prayers. We know, that prayer has gotten Charlie this far and will keep him going for a long time to come.
Loving hugs, Barbee & Charlie

Thursday
I picked up Charlie's antibiotics today. Yesterday the doctor told us he was bringing out the BIG GUNS in antibiotics line. Shortly later the nurse said Wow, he is calling on the Big Ones.. Sure enough he is taking one pill a day for 20 days. That is 20 pills and they were over $300.00. YEP that is right $321.00. So hopefully this will kill any infection he has going on. It is the same meds they were giving him by IV in the hospital but was only on for two days. So surely after 20 days, all infection will be gone. That is our prayer any way. He is getting these meds just in time because he woke today with more coughing and a runny nose.
Tomorrow is off to the Pulmonologist.
Also for those of you who know about the shoulder pain I have been in for the past year, that is keeping me from sleeping in bed, I have an update. Charlie insisted that I make an appointment with an Orthopedic Surgeon. So I see him on the 8Th. Those that don't know, it is the shoulder I tore all the ligaments in, back in '82. It has bothered me all these years, only off and on. The past few years it is more often, with the last year being nonstop. Over the counter meds no longer work and the only way I can sleep is with a mild sleeping aid usually in the recliner. Even muscle relaxers have stopped working. So hopefully, I can get some arthritis meds and it will help.
So that is it for today.
Loving hugs to all of you.

Wednesday Updatge
Charlie had an appointment with an ENT today. He did x-rays of his face and discovered a lot of infection in his sinus. He put him on high doses of antibiotics for three weeks. The day after his last dose, he goes back for a CAT Scan, from his neck up. He said the elevated white cell count is too high to be caused from this sinus infection, so that is not the culprit.
So, that is it till Friday, when we see the Pulmonary doctor again.

Charlie Update
We heard from our PC doctor today about Charlie's blood work. Everything is looking better. The white blood cell count is getting better and so is the liver. The liver was elevated to 22,000 and they want it to be around 11,000. His has dropped to 17,000. That is some of the best news we have heard in a while.
So we will see what the liver specialist says about it, when he gets a copy of the report. Our PC doctor was pleased with the readings today, considering all that Charlie has been through. He said today the fact that Charlie has been in CHF three times since Jan. could be the cause of the elevated liver readings. Charlie has an appointment with an ENT tomorrow afternoon and the Pulmonary Doctor on Friday. So I will update when we hear from the liver doctor and when we see how his ENT and Pulmonary visits go.

Cheyenne's 6th Grade Graduation

Well everyone, I want to take a little time to brag about Cheyenne. On Wednesday the 27Th, she will be having her 6Th Grade Graduation. We are so proud of her. This may not seem like a big deal but to us is is a HUGE deal because she is making Straight A's...
WTG Cheynaboo!! We are SO proud of you.
With Dan not working, she has had to drop out of Tai~Kwan~Do and Gymnastics; yet she has not let that get her down. She studies hard, and gets involved in every school activity she can. Her teachers consider her a role model. She made these grades while being active in Tai~Kwan~Do, Gymnastics, Indoor and Outdoor Soccer, Girl Scouts, D.A.R.E. and other school activities.
So, thank you for letting this proud Grannie, brag about her shining star.
Grandpa and I love you Cheyenne!

Thursday
Hi Everyone,
Well today we went to see our Primary Doctor and the doctor about the liver elevations. What a day! Our PD, said Charlie lungs sounded clear. He ordered some blood work, to see if the white blood cell counts have gone back to normal or not. Then a couple hours later we met the with the doctor about the liver test. He never received all the records from hospital, so he was not sure why he was there. So he ordered over the records and we waiting in the lobby for them to arrive. Upon reviewing them, he said the CAT Scan that was taken, was not for the abdomen area, so he had no answers about anything. He wanted to order blood work too. When he gets the results, then he will call us as to what IF anything, to do next. He was concerned about the occasional yellowing of Charlies skin and eyes. He was concerned about the elevated liver readings that were obtained while he was in the hospital. What is causing the elevation??? He does not know. Could it have been the steroids he was on? Possibly was his answer.
So again, we sit and we wait, for blood work results. The best I can do right now is when he turns yellow, take him to the doctors office and let them take a look?$#&$*#%#??????
So we know no more today than yesterday but hopefully will know more tomorrow.
Love, Barbee

Monday
I spoke with our Primary Doctor today about Charlie's blood work from last week. He wants to see Charlie on Thursday. That is also the day we are to see the specialist about the elevated liver readings. He is not having as many nose bleeds. He has not coughed up any blood for a couple days now, so for those things we are so thankful. He has had a couple dizzie episodes, but I think he is just pushing himself too much, doing the things he says he has to get done.

Blood work results
While we were having lunch out today the doctor called and left a message, with blood work results. Everything looked good except the white blood cell count, was very high. This means there is still infection, some where. By the time we got home, the doctors office had closed, as it closes at noon on Friday. So Monday, we will call and find out, what next. It is hard for me to believe with all the IV antibiotics he had and the oral antibiotics, that he can still have infection........

Thursday
We made it through the storms last night. There were tornado warnings all around us and including where we live. We are due for more storms tonight but today was a beautiful day.
This morning Charlie and I got up, showered and headed to get his blood work done. Afterwards he wanted to go eat, as he had to fast for the blood work and was hungry.
When we left there he wanted met to take him to Sears and buy some new tools. Yep, that's right, he wanted new tools. Guess what, he got new tools, too. You guys will love this, he bought a Tool Set with a reciprocating saw, drill, circular saw, light, with two batteries.. He was so excited. Then he wanted to go shopping for the things we need to complete our bathroom remodel. Oh My Gosh... He was so excited.. We had so much fun. We stopped several times and rested throughout the day. Our vehicle is still loaded with everything we purchased but who cares. It will be there tomorrow. Dan is going to unload it tomorrow, and start working on the bath, with his "supervisor" Charlie looking on.
So even though he tires easily, is weak, he is doing things he wants to do and I am going along for the ride.
That is it for our update today.

Monday
Charlie was supposed to go for blood work today. Need to compare with the ones from last week, while he was in the hospital. I started wondering last night if he was supposed to fast or not. So this morning, I called the doctors office and we waited two hours for them to return our call. By that time, Charlie had to eat, as he was getting so weak. YES, he did need to fast. So we are going on Wednesday for the blood work.
I was able to finish the painting in the upstairs bath today. Charlie then hung the light over the sink. It wore him out but he was so happy to be doing the work.
That is it from here, for today.
Have a great evening.
Hugs, Barbee

Happy Mother's Day
Happy Mother's Day to all you wonderful moms. I hope you day was perfect!
Charlie and I have had a real laid back day today. We had roasted chicken for dinner. We watched the Cardinals Ballgame and just rested the rest of the day.
He has only had a few coughing episodes today and with the help of his cough meds, he was able to get them under control.
I am happy to say there is not anything bad to report today.

Saturday
Charlie wanted to get out of the house today. So he wanted to go to Lowes. While there he started having a coughing attack. He has been coughing up some blood but not enough for him to go to the ER. When we came home he took some cough meds and is resting.

Charlie has spent the day talking about things he wants to do. He has such a positive attitude, right now. He told me yesterday, he knows he does not have much time, and he has things he wants to do.. With his EF being 10%, we have to do what ever we can, when he wants to.
He has been busy working on his "honey-do list. Or at least he has Dan working on it. lol Poor Dan, little did he know, he was going to be doing Charlie's "honey do list". lol He is a trooper though. No matter what Charlie or I ask him to do, he drops what he is doing and gets right on it.
I think he has one more day of antibiotics, so hopefully when they are gone, he will not slip back. Forward, forward, forward, we must go.

Hi Everyone,
First of all, thank you for checking out our blog for updates on Charlie. It sure was easier to post the updates there, than to try to send updates to everyone. As I always forget to update someone.
Charlie had a good night last night and got a good amount of sleep. He looks so much more rested today. I think he has one more days worth of antibiotics to take and six more days of steroids.
He says he feels better. The only thing he is complaining about are the places where his IV's were this time. He said they are actually sore to touch or bump. He has never had them be sore before. One of them gave us some difficulty when leaving yesterday. When we were waiting on the elevator, someone walked by and said, he was bleeding all over the floor. Sure enough, there was a puddle of blood and a trail back to his room. Plus he had slung some on a wall, I guess when waiving goodbye to the nurses at the nurses station. So the nurse applied a lot of pressure and got it to stop, then Charlie walked around for a while last night, with his hand over his heart. Looked like he was Pledging allegiance. Lol
That area is pretty sore. The had that IV in his hand and the other in his arm.
On the way home yesterday, he wanted to take the long way home. He started talking about things he wants to do and said he knows he may not have a lot of time left. So he really wants to start feeling better, so he can do some things.
I think that was one of the reasons he is looking so forward to the 4th of July Family BBQ at our house this year. When I first mentioned the possibility of it, he was ready to send the invitations. So I am glad I got right on it, as he has mentioned it several times.
So I am hoping we are able to get him up on his feet, so he can make plans and look forward and not backward. He has several things he wants to do, and we are going to do them, period.
So that is it for now. I need to get back to work. I am hanging wall paper in the bathroom.
I will be updating more to our blog, as I do find it faster and easier. So please keep check in there.

GREAT NEWS,
Charlie is home. The high doses of IV antibiotics finally kicked in enough to let him come home. The high doses of diuretics finally got all the fluid off and there was very little noise in the lungs, this morning. The CAT Scan, that they did late last night, showed a lot of improvement. So he was sent home with steroids and antibiotics for the next week. They were amazed at the improvement over night. I am sure getting four hours of sleep, made a huge difference. We were both so worn out and so I am sure with him being sick on top of it, was horrible.
He has an appointment on the 22nd with a specialist about the elevated liver readings.
He now has three inhalers. I could tell tonight when it was time for one of them, as I could hear the wheezing. Shortly after he used the inhaler, the wheezing was gone.
We are so happy he is home and that we got to the hospital soon enough, to where he did not have to stay a week again.
So once again, Thank you everyone for lifting Charlie up in prayers. We are so blessed to have family and friends who are always praying for him.
Loving hugs, Charlie and Barb

Charlie Update
Charlie ,
I just arrived home and have an update. The doctor told us this evening it may be three or four more days, that Charlie will be in the hospital. The main reasons are, there is still infection and they are not sure from what. His CHF (Congestive Heart Failure)plus the cough, is still too bad. They tried again to talk him into getting an IED and he has refused. His *EF (ejection fraction) is only 10%. * EF = In cardiovascular physiology, ejection fraction (Ef) is the fraction of blood pumped out of a ventricle with each heart beat.
His blood work on his liver shows there is certainly something going on there and so a specialist has been called in, hopefully for tomorrow. That just may be why the yellow eyes and skin, he has had periodically, that I told them about yesterday.
He had some really difficult times today doing a breathing test. He was so worn out when he was done. He could not perform the test well enough for good results. Each time he tried, it would cause him the severe coughs. One he even coughed up a lot of blood.
He was real dark under his eyes tonight and I think that is from lack of sleep. It has been four nights with almost no sleep. Today I got him to sleep a good 35 minutes straight, while I was there. I asked the doctor for some meds to help him sleep and they are going to give him something mild. I offered to stay with him but he wanted me to come home. He said he is worried about me too from having no rest.
On a real good note, he felt like eating today. He ate a good amount of his lunch and dinner. I was so happy to see that .
We took a walk this evening before I left. He walked down the hall and we sat and rested in the waiting room and he drank a half cup of coffee. Then we went back to his room. He said he was ready to call it a night by then.
So that is it for today. Will update more tomorrow.

Hi Everyone,
I wanted to let everyone know Charlie is back in the hospital. We got there around 1:30p.m. And did not get a room till around 8:45p.m. They have him on a heart monitor. Giving him oxygen too. They gave him some breathing treatments. They were giving him nebeulizers every 15 minutes. So he got three of them, within an hour of being there. That helped so much.
As many of you know, he has not been well since September. Since the last hospital stay, when I brought him on April 2, he has not done well at all. He has not slept for three nights, so we knew something was getting serious again..
I told him yesterday I could hear him gurgling again, which I have grown to know as a sign of pneumonia or congestive heart failure, or both. Around 10 a.m., I gave him his shower and he was so weak he could hardly stand up, when he got out. The shower completely wore him out. An hour later, he could not catch his breath. When he finally did, I told him we are going to the ER, either by car or ambulance. He chose car.
X-rays showed no change in his lungs from when he was in last month. His x-rays are always murky. So they looked the same. There were lots of lung sounds and the cough was full blown again, with out the blood.
Blood work shows his BNP reading was 989. Not as bad as last month, when they were 1,974, but they want it to be 200 or less.
So, they started him on high doses of antibiotics for Congestive Heart Failure and Pneumonia. Along with that, he is being given IV diuretics. He already is taking four diuretics a day, now. So it is hard to believe the fluids can be building up. Plus they gave him a steroid in his IV that has really relieved the cough. It got better within minutes. It is still there but bearable now.
I also questioned the yellowing of his skin and his eyes. It is not an all the time thing but his happening more frequently. One of his liver tests that they did first thing did show much higher than normal readings. So they are leaving notes for his doctors on that. I want to be at the hospital early, so I can be there when they make their rounds.
Not sure how long he will be in this time, hopefully just a couple days, since we got him there early.
So please check our blog for updates. I hope you do not mind but I feel it is easier, to give the updates if I only have to worry about one place.

Cheyenne's Final Indoor Soccer Game
Hi Everyone,
Well I need to brag, so be prepared. Cheyenne had her final indoor soccer game for the season. Her team won 11-3.... Woo Hoo! Guess who scored 4 times???? Cheyenne did !!!! She scored 4 times.
We are so proud of her. Not only did she score 4 times she also had 2 assists.
For those of you who may not know, she did all of this Winter Season while have an ingrown toenail on both sides of her "big" toe. She goes this Friday to have them cut out.
She already has some coaches calling wanting her to be on their outdoor Summer teams. It will all depend on how long she will have to go without playing, while her toe heals.
That is the latest news from our house.

Hi Everyone,
I hope all of you are finally getting some Spring like weather. It has actually been "hot" here the past few days.
Not a lot has changed. Charlie still is taking each day, one by one. His day today was very challenging with his breathing. He had chills last night, so he did not sleep well. Today, he was bloated like a hot air balloon. The best way for him to find comfort was standing. So he spent most of the day, standing behind the chair watching TV.
He wanted to go to town for dinner this evening, so we did. He can not eat much at one time any more, so we settled on some appetizers and then he wanted ice cream. So we went to the "Little Dipper" and had an ice cream and sat outside watching the traffic go by, then came home. We really enjoyed watching the faces of the little children that parents were bringing in for their special treats.
That is about it from us today. Hope all of you had a relaxing day.
With this Flu warning, please be careful in every place you go and everything you do.

Happy Easter
I hope all of you had a wonderful Easter, with family and friends.
We had a small gathering for dinner this year. Heather and her family, Don & Sue and Bill & Midge. Midge made coconut cream, chocolate and lemon meringue pies. YUMMY! Sue made a fresh fruit salad, with the best strawberries, OH gosh all the food was so good. We had turkey instead of traditional ham. Too much salt in ham, YIKES. It was obvious all the food was enjoyed by the losening of belts and the "gasping EXHALES & MOANS & GROANS" going on around the room. We all had a very nice visit after dinner, too.
Today, Charlie and I had some errands to run. Had to go by H&R Block and to the medical supply store. It was raining and chilly all day. I am hoping Charlie does not catch a chill from being in and out in the rain. He has been resting since we made it back home.
Till next time,

Charlie Update
Hi Everyone.
Well Charlie has been home from the hospital for a week. Things are still not good. He still has a nagging cough that is keeping him awake most of the time. He is having nose bleeds, too. He told me today, he feels like he is getting a cold. His throat is hurting all the time, so the meds they gave him for that, are not working. He is still very weak but is trying so hard to keep himself busy. He has been trying to sleep, both with and without his C-Pap, no difference he still coughs. He is getting really tired, of fighting the fight. You can see it in his face and in his attitude. So please continue to pray for him. Pray that he does not give in. Pray that when he goes to see his Pulmonary Doctor, he can talk Charlie in to getting the ICD. The Cardiologist, Primary Doctor and Pulmonary Doctor were all in shock at how much worse his heart is now, than it was in January.
We are looking forward to this weekend and celebrating Easter with the grandchildren. They are excited and we both love to watch their faces, when they get so excited. When those three children are around, Charlie lights up. Each of them enjoy building models with Grandpa, so what more could he want?
Happy Easter Everyone,
Barb

Don't Quit ~ Keep Playing
When the house lights dimmed and the concert was about to begin..a mother returned to her seat and discovered that her child was missing. Suddenly, the curtains parted and spotlights focused on the impressive Steinway on stage. To her horror, the mother saw her little boy sitting at the keyboard, innocently picking out 'Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star.' At that moment, the great piano master made his entrance, quickly moved to the piano, and whispered in the boy's ear, 'Don't quit . . Keep playing.' Then, leaning over , Paderewski reached down with his left hand and began filling in a bass part. Soon his right arm reached around to the other side of the child, and he added a running obbligato. Together, the old master and the young novice transformed what could have been a frightening situation into a wonderfully creative experience. The audience was so mesmerized that they couldn't recall what else the great master played. Only the classic, ' Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star.'
Perhaps that's the way it is with God. What we can accomplish on our own is hardly noteworthy. We try our best, but the results aren't always graceful flowing music. However, with the hand of the Master, our life's work can truly be beautiful. The next time you set out to accomplish great feats, listen carefully. You may hear the voice of the Master, whispering in your ear, 'Don't quit . . . Keep playing.' May you feel God's arms around you and know that Those hands are there, helping you turn your feeble attempts into true masterpieces. Remember, God doesn't seem to call the equipped, rather, God equips the 'called.' Life is more accurately measured by the lives you touch; than by the things you acquire. So touch someone by passing this little message along. May God bless you and be with you always! And Remember, 'Don't quit .... Keep playing.'

St Patricks Day
Happy St. Patty's Day Everyone,
I hope all of you remember to wear your green today or else stay clear of Cheyenne. She is going to be looking for the "GREEN".
The temps are supposed to be near or above 80* today. I am planning to do some BBQ'ing. Yummy! Wish all of you could be here to share it with us.
Dan started working on our pool yesterday. We had some strong winds that tore the winter cover off. So Dan removed the cover and cleaned some leaves out of the pool. I am adding water to it, so we can get the new cover on it, as it lost some water too. I know it is going to be 80 tomorrow, why cover it again you ask? I will tell you. Our neighbor has some kind of trees that produce tassels in the Spring. When they fall, they fall right in our pool. With the cover on, it keeps them out of the water. They are nasty when they accumulate in the pool. So until the tree stops shedding we keep the cover on, thus the need to replace it right now. So Dan, is doing that for us today. Hope to be able to get a lot of yard work done the next few days.
Hope all of you enjoy your St. Patty's Day. Be safe.
Love, Barbee

I need to ask for more prayers for Charlie today. He is getting so weak and his heart is just not wanting to keep up with the things he needs and wants to do. We went out to dinner with our friends last night and it was too much. He wanted to drive. I am sure it had to do with him being the man, taking three women out to dinner. By the time we got to their house, he was exhausted. We rested a while and off we went to the restaurant. No handicap spots were open, so we had to walk from the back of the restaurant to the front. Even though it was warm out, the walk caused him to have chills and he was too exhausted to eat. When we were leaving the restaurant, it was doing a little sprinkling, so he walked a little faster, than he should have. He was gasping for air in the car. It took at least 10 minutes for him to calm his breathing down enough to head home. When we made it to our drive way. He headed straight in to the house and collapsed in the chair. He asked for a blanket and his inhaler. The inhaler did not help.
So please pray for comfort for him. None of us know God's will for Charlie. I just pray that it be His will, that Charlie not suffer. I know he is suffering more than he lets me know. He is such a strong man but I can see how hard it is, by looking in his eyes, an seeing how everything is getting to be, too much for him. There seems to be little I can do, that gives him any comfort, even though he is greatfull for each thing I try to do.

Not much happening around here today. Just trying to adjust to the Daylight Savings Time change. This one is always hard on me. I know it will be tomorrow too, for all the children, having to get up for school.
Did you know it has been proven that more heart attacks happen the first seven days after DST, than any other week of the year? It is true. Our bodies do not adjust well to time change. Especially the one that makes everything earlier than normal. So everyone just go with the flow this week and don't let things get to you. I am going to try to listen to my own advise.
Saturday Midge and I spent the day, window shopping at Hobby Lobby, Michael's and Big Lots, after having lunch at Cracker Barrel.
I hope all of you enjoyed your weekend. You are in my prayers.

Hi Everyone,
Well not a lot has change since my last update. Charlie and Dan are working hard on the bath remodel. I got the ceiling painted and really am pleased with the color, I chose.
Cheyenne had her, book character day, at school. She went as the character Bella, from the Twilight Book, when Bella went to prom with a broken leg. It was a lot of fun helping her prepare for it. I will add a photo to the blog soon. Her school is so great the way them make reading fun. Cheyenne and Alaina both love to read, so that makes it even better. Alainas school was not having this particular event but she enjoyed watching Cheyenne prepare for it.
We finally have a day above freezing again, today. WooHoo, Spring just may be around the corner.
Don't forget Daylight Savings Time starts this weekend. I do not want you to be late for church service on Sunday. Been there, done that.
Have a wonderful day everyone!

Happy St Patty's Month Everyone
Hello Family & Friends,
Welcome to, St Patty's Month of March! Can you believe it is March already? Wow!
Things around here have been the hectic as usual lifestyle. Been busy with doctor visits and shopping for our main floor bath remodel. What a job that has turned in to. All the plans are done and most of the buying is complete. As soon as, Jeff can come by and do the muddin in the area the medicine cabinet was, then the rest of the work can start. I am anxious to get it completed. Having Dan here with us is a big help, in doing the work Charlie can not do.
For those of you who have read the Twilight Series Books, I want you to know, Cheyenne is going to school tomorrow as, Bella at the prom. Her class is having a "Dress As A Book Character Day", tomorrow. Since Cheyenne loves to read, this is really exciting for her. Of course, I was busy this weekend tweaking the dress she is wearing. What else are grandmas to do? ;)
We had a day last week when we drove around with the roof open on the Edge, temps in low 70's. Two days later it was below freezing with snow flurries. Such is the Missouri weather.
We have all been enjoying the Wii. Those of you who have one know they can be addicting. It is funny watching the grand-kids play it, especially Evan, using the steering wheel.
Bill and Midge got moved into their apartment this week. I bet they are thrilled. It is a nice one too. Lots of room.
I guess that is the latest from here.
Happy March,
Barb

January 13,2009
Well, here we are already into the 13th day of a new year. Once again, our year started off with Charlie being in the hospital. Hope it is the last time, we spend New Years Day with him sick like that. It has been a rough month for him but I think he is starting to feel, somewhat better.
Yesterday was our oldest granddaughters 12th birthday. Talk about time flying. It does not seem like it was 12 years ago that our daughter, gave birth to her daughter. Hopefully, time will slow down some and the next 12 years will not fly by so fast.
I wish all of my family and friends a wonderful year in 2009. I pray that it is a year of Much Happiness, Good Health, and that all your needs are able to be met. May we all realize how fortunate we are, with what we have. We have more than the majority of the people in the world.
God Blessings to you,
Barbee
